The aboriginal science classroom projects were conceived, researched and produced by Harvey
McCue & Associates with funding from Industry Canada’s School Net Program. Harvey McCue
has given the Northern Ontario Catholic Curriculum Cooperative his permission to use these science
units as part of this collection. As the anthology was being compiled and fine-tuned, a wonderful
Native First Nations lady came into our life. With enthusiasm the Northern Ontario Catholic Curriculum
Cooperative invited Annie Wesley, a Catechist with the Mundo Peetabeck School Board,
Fort Albany to join our team. Annie is a retired school teacher who continues her career working for
the Diocese of Moosonee teaching the Catholic faith at Peetabeck Academy. Annie obtained her
graduate diploma of religious studies from Newman Theological College, Edmonton Alberta. She is
a Muskego Cree of the Constance Lake Band. Annie worked with NOCCC throughout the summer
and fall and she did the final editing of this resource for aboriginal content. We welcome Annie to
the Cooperative and we thank her for her invaluable contribution in the production of this aboriginal
resource.
We invite all of our partner Boards to share this resource with their students with the same enthusiasm
and love that it was created. To those who use this unit, in the language of the Anishinabe we
say “Miigwetch”.This aboriginal resource was made possible through the kind cooperation of the Native First
Nations persons we met from North Bay to Nakina, and the use of the Internet. The classroom
projects were conceived, researched and produced by Harvey McCue & Associates
with funding from Industry Canada’s School Net program.. The units are made available to
you as a collection for the cost of copying only. You can download the units independently
at ww.schoolnet.ca/aboriginal/science.
Other portions of the unit were produced and published by the Northern Ontario Catholic
Curriculum Cooperative with the kind cooperation of the Native First Nations people we
were blessed to encounter. |
